Laos

Laos, known as "the kingdom of the million elephants" is one of the most welcoming and beautiful countries. Golden temples, orange robes, rice fields, jungle, mountains, coffee, waterfalls, the mighty Mekong River, spectacular cities such as Luang Prabang (the former capital of Indochina), Khmer archaeology, ethnic and cultural diversity, gastronomy - all these and more are the attractions Laos has to offer the traveller and make each trip unique.

Day 1: Burgos - Madrid - Frankfurt

Day 2: Frankfurt - Bangkok - Chiang Ray

Day 3: Chiang Ray to Huai Xai

Day 4: Huai Xai to Pak Beng

At 00:30 our return flight to Spain via Zurich with Swiss operated by Thai leaves. We arrive in Zurich Airport around 8 am, making an 8 hour stopover in Zurich.

We get up at dawn, there is only one local bus that takes us to Pakse. Supposedly it leaves at 6.30 and we're at the "glorieta".

Champasak

We're woken up by music and people talking on loudspeakers. In this area they wake up at six in the morning with energy. But the worst thing is not that it wakes you up but that it lasts an hour!

We all had breakfast together in our Guest by the Mekong, said goodbye. We go right to the money and change in an exchange house.

Today we rent bikes to tour the island. After a quiet breakfast at the Guest, we rented five bikes for you.

Bridge to Don Khon

We're leaving in a van with the same agency as the elephants. The van ends its journey in Nakasang. The trip is good, the roads are quite good. Everything is very flat.

We arrive at Ban Nakasang and buy tickets for Champasak for the 23rd and the tickets for the boat to Don Det, one of the islands in the area known as Si Phan Don or 4,000 islands.

It's dawn, the driver wakes us up and tells us we can go. We take a tuk tuk and go downtown. We see the monks again in procession begging.

Tak Bat in Pakse

We woke up determined to go to Tham Kong Lo. Although they try to convince us otherwise and we bought a VIP bus to Tha Khaek, why? We had to try.

We bought something to eat, a grapefruit with a bag of spicy, curious but tasty.
