We are in Ubud, cultural capital of the island, noted for its art galleries, museums and crafts, temples, palaces, markets, restaurants and cafes, but also worth knowing the surroundings.

We visit the Palace of Ubud, which shares space with the Puri Saren Agung and the Pura Marajan Agung. The local royal family resides in this complex. The sculptures, gates and courtyards stand out.

Next to these we see the Pura Desa Ubud and Pura Taman Saraswati with a lagoon full of lotus flowers.

You can also visit the Sacred Monkey Forest Reserve. Beware of the monkeys.

We rented some bikes and left the city heading north through villages and rice fields. In Bali there are several harvests a year so we have the opportunity to see how a group of people on one side manually collect the rice, while others are ploughing and other terraces are newly planted.

We eat overlooking the terraces and visit a Hindu temple, we teach a very peculiar guide is deaf and dumb but very gossipy, we have a few laughs with them, even dressed in a skirt and put flowers in our hair.

We return to Ubud, before dinner we go to the Pure Taman Saraswati to enjoy a Balinese theater show accompanied by gamelan (traditional Balinese and Javanese orchestra).
