We get up early, have breakfast in Clafouti and take a taxi to the bus station. We spend the day in Kovalam.

We take a bus, it gets a little rough, it is very hot and near Thiruvananthapuram there is a lot of pollution. Lots of people and lots of traffic, constant beeping. It takes quite a while to get through the city. We arrive at the bus station and take a rickshaw to Kovalam.

Once there we rent a room for the four of us to leave our backpacks and take a shower before going to the airport tonight. Next door there is a swimming pool and we ask if they will let us in. We paid 600 rupees and enjoyed a good bath. We share the pool with an Indian family. The mother is dressed inside the water and she just walks around the pool, she is afraid because she cannot swim and she does not dare to be covered anymore. The children have a pirate time and Javi teaches them to dive in head first.
We look for a place to eat and we are approached by a lot of men selling handkerchiefs. Finally we buy from one of them to avoid the harassment of the rest. We drink a beer and eat something, then take a walk on the beach.

Visually the beach (Kovalam Beach) is spectacular, one part full of palm trees the other more urbanized. Our disappointment comes when we take a walk on Light House Beach, the color of the sand was black instead of golden, due to the oil and diesel coming from the sea. We reached the Vizhinjam lighthouse, a green area with swings.

We had dinner and rested for a while, we called a taxi to go to the airport, our flight leaves at 5 in the morning.
Plane ticket from Thiru to Delhi: 90 euros.
Rickshaw from Thiru to Kovalam: 300 rupees.
Pool: 600 rupees 4 pax.
