Via ferrata of Sorrosal

The via ferrata of Sorrosal is located in Broto at the foot of the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido.

The sections are equipped with different elements arranged on the wall of the ravine of the Sorrosal Gorge that includes several stairs, sleepers, Tibetan bridge, cave and two waterfalls of 45 and 55 meters with an intermediate pool.

It is suitable for beginners (difficulty K2) and the tour will take you no more than two hours. The views are spectacular.

Via ferratas are routes equipped with solid materials such as nails, staples, handrails, chains or suspension bridges among others, both vertical and horizontal that allow us to ascend safely with special risk of falling for those not accustomed to climbing. It is not a terrain of easy progression and involves certain risks so if you do not have technical knowledge we recommend that you put yourself in the hands of professional guides.

 

Sorrosal Gorge

 

 

You must be equipped with the following materials: helmet, harness, gloves, shock absorbers (element that will cushion the blow in case of a fall) and good footwear (comfortable, non-slip and closed), as well as enough water, sunscreen and warm clothing. It is advisable to carry a rope, although it is not indispensable.

 

Tibetan bridge

 

 

If you do not have the necessary equipment, you can rent it in sport stores or the companies that manage the facilities usually do it. In this case we rented the equipment from Aventuras Pirenaicas, the company that equipped the route. We recommend it.

The via ferratas have only one direction of travel and you can not go back, you must be in good shape and not have vertigo. In these cases it is better to hire a guide.

In the first section we cross the river over a tibetan bridge located a few meters from the river flow. We continue ascending by the wall of the gorge where various elements such as staples, nails or chains are combined.

We arrive at the foot of a set of stairs very close to the waterfall, the sound is incredible.

Climbing the stairs you enter a small cave or tunnel that leads to the intermediate pool through which you cross over the second tibetan bridge. The sensation of being at altitude and the force of the water are incredible.

Once you have crossed the bridge, a stretch of stairs takes you to the final part of the route. We descend along a path through the forest.
